• Several Tigers made their first career starts in today's game. Redshirt freshman Dominik Riley made his first start in today's game at left guard and junior college transfer Steven Black started at receiver. On defense, redshirt freshman Winston Bowens had his first start at middle linebacker and transfer Dontae Reed started at safety.
• Sophomore receiver Duke Calhoun extended his receiving streak to 13 games with his eight-yard reception in the first quarter. Calhoun was one of just five true freshmen to play in 2006 and caught at least one pass in each of the 12 games. Calhoun ended the day with 10 catches for 87 yards. His 10 catches ties for second all-time for single-game receptions.
• Senior linebacker Quinton McCrary recovered his second career fumble in the first quarter. He scooped up the ball that was knocked loose by Winston Bowens. McCrary's last fumble recovery was against Louisville in 2004.
• Carlos Singleton is on a nine-game receiving streak after catching eight passes for 91 yards in today's game.
• Junior defensive lineman Clinton McDonald registered his first career sack when he dropped Seth Adams for a loss of four yards in the second quarter. McDonald was credited with an assist on a sack against Tulsa last season.
• Punter Brent Sutherland was blocked on his first attempt in the second quarter and Ole Miss returned the ball for a TD. It was the first time that Memphis had been blocked on a punt since the Louisville game in 2003. The last time that a Tiger opponent returned a blocked punt for a touchdown was in the Louisville meeting in 2002.
• Martin Hankins was picked off for the second interception of the game at the 1-yard line in the second quarter by Dustin Mouzon who returned the ball 99 yards for a touchdown. It ties the longest return (INT or fumble) for a TD at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, which was set by Izell McGill (Mississippi St.) off a 99-yard fumble return in 1996. The most recent longest interception return for an opponent was by Tennessee (Reynolds) in 1972, which was a 96-yard return.
• Linebacker Jake Kasser registered his third career fumble recovery on the Tigers' kickoff to open the second half of the game. Kasser picked up the fumble that was forced by Tyler Griffin. Kasser recovered another fumble on Ole Miss' first drive of the third quarter when Mike Wallace was jolted by Greg Jackson and gave up the ball on a 2nd-and-13 play.
• Quarterback Martin Hankins was picked off four times in today's game. It was the most interceptions thrown by Hankins since he gave up five picks in the loss to East Carolina last season.
• The Tigers were forced into five turnovers today. It was the most turnovers since Memphis gave the ball up six times last year against East Carolina (5 INT, 1 fumble).
• Sophomore defensive lineman Greg Terrell was credited with a sack for a loss of five yards in the final four minutes of the third quarter. It was his sixth sack of his career.
• There were three plays reviewed today and two overturned. The first play that was overturned was a 19-yard touchdown reception by Maurice Jones in the third quarter. It was ruled the Jones went out of bounds. The second was an alleged fumble recovery for a TD by Ole Miss in the fourth quarter in which the officials ruled the ball a forward pass.
• Joseph Doss scored Memphis' first touchdown of the game with just over one minute left in the third quarter on a one-yard run. It was Doss' 10th career rushing touchdown, and his 11th career TD.
• The Tigers attempted 61 passes today, which ties the single game record which was set against Mississippi State in 2003. The 41 completions by the Tigers is a new school single game record, surpassing the previous record of 33 against USF in 2002.
• Martin Hankins recorded career highs today in completions (41), attempts (60) and yards (343). His 41 completions sets a new single-game Tiger record and his 60 attempts ties the record which was set by Danny Wimprine in 2003 against Miss. State.
• Freshman Matt Malouf lined up at quarterback and rushed four yards for his first career touchdown with just over 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Malouf is a redshirt freshman from Oxford, Miss. He also booted a punt to the 8-yard line in the first quarter.
• Martin Hankins hit Duke Calhoun for a two-point conversion following Malouf's touchdown. Memphis' last two-point conversion by a pass was Ole Miss last season.
• Memphis' block of a fourth quarter Ole Miss field goal attempt by Greg Terrell was the first Tiger blocked field goal attempt since UTEP in 2006. It was Terrell's first career blocked field goal.
• Duke Calhoun's eight yard touchdown catch with 31 seconds remaining in the game was his first TD catch of the 2007 season. It was his seventh career touchdown.
