MEMPHIS, TENN. - The University of Memphis football team, which defeated the SMU Mustangs, 55-52, in Saturday's regular season triple-overtime finale, has accepted a bid to participate in the 2007 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The game will be played in the Superdome on December 21 and will pit the U of M against the champion of the Sun Belt Conference.
Tickets for the contest will go on sale Monday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Tiger fans can place their orders by calling the U of M Athletic Ticket Office at 901-678-2331 or by going on-line to the athletic department website, GoTigersGo.com. Tickets are $40 each with all of the Tigers' allotment allocated along the sidelines of the Louisiana Superdome. Priority for ticket locations will be determined through Tiger Scholarship Fund donations, the previous purchase of football season tickets and finally to the general public.
TSF members and season ticket holders have until Monday, December 10th to order their tickets and receive ticket priority. Beginning Tuesday, December 11th, all tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tiger fans are asked to purchase their tickets through the University of Memphis, as all proceeds from sales go directly to the University. Tickets bought through other locations do not benefit the U of M.
Tickets will be available for pickup at the Athletic Office Building beginning on Monday, December 17th and running through Wednesday, December 19th. Hotels, charter flights, events and other bowl related information will be sent out as it becomes available.
