Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
"What I liked was how we played in this game was carried over from the way we practiced, which is the most important thing. What I put on the board after (the game) was perfect practice makes perfect. What we had done in practice defensively was what you saw out here (tonight). That may have been the best defensive performance, where we covered for each other, since I've been here. I told (Mick) Cronin we're probably not as good as we played."
"I'm worried about my team. This is January now. I've got to get these guys ready."
"What I told Robert Dozier before the game was all I wanted was four offensive rebounds and three blocks. Don't worry about anything else. Try and get the kid to chase one rabbit instead of three. The way it helps us is if (Willie) Kemp is not making shots, his (Dozier) offensive rebounding counters it. So, he comes out and gets five offensive rebounds. He didn't have the blocks; he only had one because they didn't come in at him."
"I liked Joey (Dorsey) and Kareem (Cooper) playing together. We shot 16 layups and made 14. We did make some threes, especially early. It's nice to see Jeremy Hunt come off the bench and play that way. This was a team defensive effort."
Cincinnati Head Coach Mick Cronin
"We didn't play that bad in the first 10 minutes of the game. We had good shots. We were moving the ball. They just made every shot. Willie Kemp is a decent shooter, making every shot. You can't guard all of them. They've got us out-manned in the post. You've got to pick your poison."
"We've got no Connor (Barwin). You've got to try and pack it in a little bit. If they shot the ball like that, we weren't going to be able to win. The worst nightmare happened. They made every shot to start the game."
"When the other team shoots the threes like that, and you're out-manned in the post, there is really nothing you can do. The problem is when we get down. It's tough when you're down like that, and this is the first time on a real road game these guys are going through something like that. We got shell-shocked."
