MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis cross country teams will travel to Little Rock, Ark. on Saturday to compete in their second meet of the year.
"I expect a solid performance from our squad tomorrow," said Memphis cross country coach Mike Power. "We've had a good week of training, and I think the kids are ready to go."
On the women's side Memphis will look to sophomore Emily Malinoski to have another strong finish. The New York native is the team's most consistent returner and finished 14th in the Western Kentucky Old Timers' Classic last weekend.
Sophomore Geoff Standen led the men's team last week finishing with a 29:21. The men will also expect a good performance from senior Avi Shaposhnik. Shaposhnik finished two minutes behind Standen last week.
"I'd like to see us run a little better than we did last week," said Power. "I think last week we were still getting into the racing mode, so I think we'll show some improvement tomorrow."
