Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
"I'm really happy about how CBU played. They really came after us. They did some things in the press that made us make some adjustments. They didn't fear us at all. They came right after us. They wore down, but that is because they just made a bus trip back from Ohio to get back here. It was good for us. We go 4-for-9 in the second half from the three. That's about how many threes we want to take. Because the game was shortened with how they played, we scored 78. But that's like scoring a hundred because they are taking 25, 30 seconds each time down the court."
"It was good to see how we could play without Joey Dorsey and with a small line-up. A couple of things stood out. The way Jeremy Hunt played; that is the way we have always seen him play --- diving on the floor, tipping balls. Tre'Von Willis, who I didn't put in the rotation, didn't have an attitude. He just came out and played."
Christian Brothers Head Coach Mike Nienaber
"(In the first half), we didn't get tired. We didn't get physically beat up. In the second half, I think that the speed and the physical contact finally wore on us. They're a great defensive team. They're relentless and they continue to pound and bang."
"It's great practice for us. At times, we didn't handle it well. Sometimes I felt it got a little over the edge, not that they were doing anything wrong, but I thought it would have been nice for a whistle to have been blown occasionally. But again, it was great practice for us, and that's what it's all about. I told the guys it's all about next Wednesday when our season starts. For Memphis, it's about this weekend and trying to get yourself ready to play when it matters. That's the great thing about these exhibition games."
"Our kids battled. I think we just finally gave out. We just got banged around so much that it just finally took its toll I think. They're good. They're just so much more physical and so much quicker, and it finally just wore us down."
