Recap | Final Stats | Quotes
• The Tigers scored on the first play from scrimmage off an 82-yard pass from Martin Hankins to Ryan Scott. The play ties for the seventh longest pass completion in school history. It was the longest since Danny Wimprine tossed a 92-yard pass to Tavarious Davis for a score against Ole Miss in 2003.
• Memphis scored 27 seconds into the game, which is the quickest scoring play for the Tigers in the last 26 years. The Tigers had a TD 39 seconds into the game against Houston in 1998. During the span of 26 years, Memphis has scored four times in the first minute of the game.
• The 82-yard reception moved receiver Ryan Scott into the top 10 all-time for receiving yards. He entered the game ranked 12th in receiving yards and 14th in career receptions. Scott finished the day with six catches for 120 yards. He now ranks eighth in career receiving yards with 1,281 yards, and 10th in receptions with 83.
• Ryan Scott's 120 yards receiving was a career high for the senior receiver, and marked his third 100-yard receiving game. His six receptions in the game marked the most catches for a Tiger receiver this season. It was also the most catches for a Tiger since Scott caught seven against UTEP last season. In that game, Scott totaled seven receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown.
• Brandon Patterson picked off his second pass of the season; the fourth of his career, when he intercepted Chris Williams on the UAB 41-yard line in the first quarter. He returned the pick 29 yards and set up the eventual 28-yard field goal by Matt Reagan.
• True freshman Matt Reagan converted his first career field goal, a 28 yarder, to give Memphis the 10-7 advantage with just over six minutes remaining in the first quarter. Reagan later missed a 41 yarder in the second quarter. It was the longest field goal attempt for a Tiger kicker this year. Reagan finished the day three-of-four on FGs and two-of-two on PATs.
• Junior linebacker Jake Kasser dropped UAB's Chris Williams on 3rd and three for a loss of four yards to log his second career sack. The sack forced the Blazers to punt the ball.
• Redshirt freshman receiver Carlos Singleton caught a 25-yard pass from Martin Hankins in the second quarter. It was Singleton's first catch in the last three games. He later caught a six-yard touchdown in the third quarter for his second career TD catch. He had also caught a pass for a score in the season opener against Ole Miss.
• Three receivers and one back have caught passes in all five games this season. WRs Earnest Williams, Ryan Scott and Duke Calhoun, and RB Joseph Doss extended their season streaks with at least one catch in tonight's game. Williams and Scott's streaks are actually at six games, dating back to last season's Motor City Bowl.
• True freshman Duke Calhoun caught his third touchdown pass on a 25-yard reception from Martin Hankins to up the Memphis lead 17-14. Calhoun has also caught TD passes against Tennessee and East Carolina. He ended the day with six catches for 81 yards, and has caught at least two passes in all five games.
• Martin Hankins threw for 201 yards in the first half, marking the second time this season he has thrown for 200 or more yards in a half. He tallied 209 passing yards in the first half against East Carolina.
• Senior free safety Brandon McDonald intercepted UAB's Chris Williams in the third quarter and logged a 42-yard return. The interception was the second of the year for McDonald, and the fifth of his career. The 42-yard return was a career high, as his previous best was a 37-yard return against Tennessee in 2005.
• The Tigers tried a two-point conversion following Carlos Singleton's 6-yard TD reception and failed on the pass play by Dave Thomas. It was the second two-point attempt for the season as Memphis converted one in the season opener against Ole Miss.
• Quarterback Martin Hankins passed for 303 yards today for his first game over 300 yards passing. He completed 22 of 30 passes and tossed three touchdowns. It was the third game this season that Hankins had completed at least 20 passes.
• Duke Calhoun and Ryan Scott combined today for 12 receptions and 201 receiving yards. Scott and Calhoun both totaled six receptions to mark the first time since the 2002 season that two Tigers had at least five receptions in a single game. Against Mississippi State, Travis Anglin had seven catches for 90 yards and a score and Tavares Gideon finished with eight catches for 127 yards and a TD.
