MEMPHIS, Tenn.- There will be very little rest for the University of Memphis men's golf team this week. After finishing sixth at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Tuesday, their fourth consecutive top-ten finish dating back to last season, the Tigers will be back at it again when they head north to Zionsville, Ind. this weekend for the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Head Coach Grant Robbins will use the same lineup that appeared earlier this week at the Memphis Intercollegiate at Colonial Country Club.
Senior Lewis Clarke returns to the number one position after posting the Tigers' most consistent performance at Colonial. The Exeter, England native posted rounds of 74, 73, and 76 to total a 223 and tie for 34th place.
Junior Ian Rochester will look to forget his first round at Colonial on Monday and build off a solid finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate. The Cordova native shot 86, 71, and 72 to finish fifth among the Tigers. The third-year veteran will remain in the second spot thanks to a 14-stroke improvement from the first to third rounds.
Junior Robbie Greenwell will look to improve his consistency when he tees off in the third position for the Tigers. The Georgetown, Ontario, native opened the Memphis Intercollegiate with a 1-under-par 71, but rounds of 78 and 76 dropped him back toward the middle of the field and a tie for 43rd place.
Freshman Brandon Bunn has the most momentum of any Tiger in the field. The Knoxville, Tenn., native recorded a final round of 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday after rounds of 74 and 78. Bunn's three-round total of 222 made him the lowest Tiger finisher.
Sophomore Brad Benjamin rounds out the Tigers' top-five. Benjamin will also be looking for consistency this weekend. Like Greenwell, Benjamin opened Monday's play with a 71, but back-to-back rounds of 76 dropped him to a tie for 34th with Clarke.
Highlighting the ten team field, along with the Tigers will be: co-hosts Indiana and Kentucky, Xavier, C-USA rival UCF, Louisville, Georgia Southern, Arkansas, Michigan, and Missouri.
Play begins on Saturday with first and second round action. Monday's first round will begin with tee times starting at 7:30 a.m. central time off of the first and tenth tees. The second round will begin with tee times starting at 11:30 central time. Sunday's final round will begin with tee times starting at 8:00 a.m. central.
