Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
"I liked the effort and the pace. What I didn't like was that our patience on offense was just horrendous. We have to learn to play fast but be patient. We don't need to just take the first shot, we need to create something. If the shot is there, you take it, if it's not there, you start running some sets."
"I would guess we missed 15 layups. Darius (Washington) never misses any layups, and tonight he missed four. Joey (Dorsey) missed dunks, tips and layups, and I told them that I could care less. As long as you defend, rebound and block shots, miss all of the layups you want because you are only going to get about four of those a game. If Joey goes 0-4 and gets 15 rebounds, then we are all happy."
"I thought there were some good signs. I thought Andre (Allen), for the first time out of the gate, didn't shoot the ball well, but that is not what he does. He was terrific defensively. He gave Darius a nice break."
"I thought the person who was really good today was Antonio Anderson. Wow, was he good!"
"I thought we showed discipline. When they beat us, we got right into a man defense. There were some good things that I saw today. I am not usually too excited, but we have made strides from last week."
Christian Brothers Head Coach Mike Nienaber
"Memphis is good. They have a chance to be special. I told a couple of players that when we came off the floor. Memphis has enough pressure on them already as it is."
"The only perspective I have was that, in my second year at CBU, we played Ole Miss in an exhibition game and they ended up going to the Sweet 16. Memphis has a lot of talent and if all their players get well they can really be special."
"We are a young team. Last year I started five seniors, and this year, I started freshmen and sophomores that have not played much, and the pressure really bothered them. I think Nick Kohs had a real good game, taking it to big guys and was 4-of-5 and had some power moves around the basket. I think he has a chance to be a good Division II basketball player. Also, I thought Roberto Casiano ran the point well for and did a good job of running the floor for us. You have to have a good point guard and he showed some good signs."
