Memphis Head Coach John Calipari
"Mississippi really played a good team game. You have to give Rod credit. They controlled the tempo. They went where they needed to go with the ball and they competed at a way higher level than my team. So let's not take away from Mississippi by saying, 'What's wrong with us?'"
"I've done this a long, long time and coached some great teams and some bad teams. But even my bad teams competed and had a competitive fire. Obviously, this team does not. So, I'm a little dumbfounded by it. All I can tell you is we are going to take a few days off and try to see what buttons we can push to get this team to compete. There aren't any excuses for not competing."
"We've got a ways to go but I'm not giving up on the season and I'm not giving up on this team. But until they understand how to compete at a high level there's not anything any of us can do. This is about competing. Mississippi came in here with more thought in mind to win, whatever they had to do."
Ole Miss Head Coach Rod Barnes
"It was a great win for our program. To go on the road (and win) was really big. Today we put it together, and it is a great win. The last three games we have played well and put it together. We have been in three close games so far this year, and we have learned from our mistakes. We did not do a good job of taking care of the ball against Arkansas State and we did not finish shots well."
"Cavadas Nunnery started for Todd Abernethy and Justin Johnson started for Brandon Patterson. Nunnery really played great for us today and stepped up huge."
"We felt we could go to Tommie Eddie inside, and he could give us something. We felt we could attack Memphis inside because they are pretty young. When we lost to Florida State last week, they had a more veteran players inside."
"This is a rivalry game, and both teams were struggling for wins coming into this game. I think our team can take a lot of confidence from this win today."
