Head Coach Edward L Daniels Jr.
"I knew Memphis had alot of guys that could shoot the basketball but I did not know they could should it that well. Memphis shot 53.8 percent from the three-point line in the first half. In the first half, we were trying to play some zone, but we were overmatched from the beginning."
"We were trying to make a good impression tonight, and we were trying to grow fast. Hopefully we will work harder and not go in a shell. I have six freshman on my team and we are young."
"At times, we got overwhelmed and did not fight back like we should have, and as a coach, I need to change that. I think this was a good learning experience. Our guys looked up at the score and threw in the towel early."
"Memphis was much more physical than I thought they were. They have many more players than just Sean Banks. Memphis is a great offensive rebounding team and that really impressed me."

Head Coach John Calipari
"We're deep enough now so that if anybody doesn't bring it defensively, I'm taking them out. The best friend I have is that bench. I'm not worried about our opponents. Right now, it's about our team getting better. Joey Dorsey had an unbelievable shoot-around today, which led to this (his performance tonight). He's learning. He just doesn't know that the shoot-around is serious business, and it's preparing you for the game. Today he did and he performed. Sixteen rebounds is a pretty big number for a freshman, and the biggest thing was he got rebounds that we haven't had and it was good to see that."
"Overall it was a pretty good effort. I loved the way we swung the ball and moved the ball. We rebounded offensively."
"The greatest thing that happened to us was (the) CBU (exhibition game). So the 22,000 we paid them was well worth it. It woke us up. They played an offense that made us show that we had no discipline defensively. We worked on it and they responded."
