Wagner Named to Sporting News All-Freshman Team

University of Memphis guard Dajuan Wagner has been named to The Sporting News All-Freshman team released by the publication on Tuesday.
Joining Wagner on the squad was TSN Freshman of the Year Maurice Williams of Alabama as well as T.J. Ford (Texas), Chris Thomas (Notre Dame) and Emeka Okafor (Connecticut).
Wagner scored a school-record 762 points as a freshman while averaging 21.2 points an outing. The rookie scored 20+ points 22 times during the year and matched a career high with 32 points in the Tigers' 78-77 NIT semifinal win over Temple. For the year, Wagner also averaged 2.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
He was named the Most Valuable Player at the NIT, averaging 24 points and four assists while shooting 62 percent from the field (18-of-29) and 64 percent from behind the arc (7-of-11) in two games played in New York.
Wagner has also been named Conference USA's Freshman of the Year as well as selected to the all-conference first-team. He was an Honorable Mention All-America pick by the Associated Press.
