Memphis, Tenn. - The Memphis men's tennis team maintained its 70th spot in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Tigers have been ranked in the top 75 in all but one week of the spring season.
The Tigers number one doubles team of Ben Stapp and Lee Taylor Walker broke into the rankings at number 53 after defeating last week's 5th-rated team of Oliver Foreman and Robert Gustaffson of Middle Tennessee.
Memphis started the season at 75th, moved up to 72nd in the second week before falling out of the rankings for one week. The Tigers reappeared at 70 last week.
The ITA rankings are weighed heavily in determining which teams and individuals make the NCAA tournament at the end of the season.
