Men's Track Finishes Second at ASU Kickoff Classic

JONESBORO, Ark. - Led by four second place finishes, the University of Memphis men's track and field team finished second out of seven teams at the Arkansas State Kick-Off Classic, Sunday. Seniors Andre Lucas and Hugh Ferry each posted runner up finishes in the 400 and the mile, respectively. Lucas finished second to Ole Miss' Clinton Fletcher in 49.23, while Ferry finished second to UALR's Dmitry Shokur in 4:25.52. Fellow senior Ryan Smith finished second in the 3,000 in 8:57.97. Freshman Willie Green also added a second-place finish in his first collegiate meet, finishing second in the finals of the 55-meter dash in 6.34 seconds, just .02 behind Ole Miss' James Shelton. Memphis will break for exams and the semester break before returning to Arkansas State for its next indoor meet, Jan .25th.
