Tulane (C-USA Championships)

Men's Tennis Falls to No. 47 Tulane, 4-1

The University of Memphis men's tennis team (14-9, 1-3) fell to No. 47 Tulane in the second round of the Conference USA Championships at Tulane, Friday.
The host Green Wave won No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the doubles point and to go up, 1-0. Tulane then won singles matches at No. 1, 2 and 6 to seal the match.
Junior Michael Chamberlain accounted for Memphis' one point, downing Derya Rose, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Memphis now gets a shot at the team which bumped it down to a No. 7 seed when the Tigers face unranked UAB at noon, Saturday. Despite being one of the six teams in the league that were nationally ranked, the coaches conference call placed UAB above Memphis. Memphis moved up to No. 71 in the polls after sweeping their regular season finale.
This will be the first meeting between UAB and Memphis this season.
