MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Scooter McFadgon scored 19 points Saturday night to lead Memphis to a 91-64 victory over Tulane.
McFadgon connected on 7-of-13 from the field, including all three of his 3-point shots, as Memphis (14-9, 8-2 Conference USA) capitalized on a 10-minute stretch of the first half where Tulane ( 9-14, 2-8) failed to hit a field goal.
The victory was Memphis' 10th win in the last 11 games.
Kelly Wise finished with 18 points, and Shannon Forman added 17 for the Tigers.
Ledaryl Billingsley and Brandon Brown shared Tulane scoring honors with 16 each. Brandon Spann finished with 12, and Wayne Tinsley contributed 11 for the Green Wave.
Tulane's only lead came early at 4-3 when Brown hit a 10-footer with 17:01 left in the half. But Tulane wouldn't score another basket until the 7:10 mark on a basket by Linton Johnson. Meanwhile, Memphis went on a 23-3 run to build a 26-7 lead.
After intermission, Memphis continued to build its lead and was never threatened. The Tigers outscored Tulane 15-6 to open the half and led 58-32 when Shamel Jones scored inside with 14:24 left.
Memphis, which shot 60 percent from the field in the second half, would lead by at least 20 the rest of the way. Tulane shot 33.3 percent in the first half, and 40 percent for the game.
