Knoxville, Tenn.-- - The University of Tennessee (6-1) snapped Memphis' (4-3) three-match win streak with a 3-0 win in the Stokely Center, Monday.
The Lady Vols, coming off their first loss of the season to North Carolina Friday, were too intense for the Tigers to handle in game one. Memphis hit a season-low .050 and had just seven kills and three digs in a game one loss, 15-4.
The remaining two matches were more of the same, with Tennessee coming out on top, 15-6 in both games two and three.
Ginger Garrett led the team with five kills and six digs and a block assist and a block solo in the Tigers' third loss of the year.
Memphis returns home to host the Graphic Systems Classic, Friday and Saturday. Memphis opens against Mississippi State at noon, Friday. Ole Miss, Nicholls State and Syracuse round out the tournament participants.
