MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Kelly Wise scored 15 points and got 9 rebounds Wednesday night as Memphis overcame a sloppy first half performance to defeat Tennessee-Martin 81-49.
Memphis (2-3), which trailed much of the first half, opened the second period with a 28-5 run and led by at least 20 through the final eight minutes of the game.
Five Memphis players scored in double figures. Besides Wise, who also had 4 blocks, John Grice finished with 12, Modibo Diarra and Shannon Forman contributed 11 each and Courtney Trask added 10 and a team-leading 4 assists.
Okechi Egbe, the only Tennessee-Martin player in double figures, led the Skyhawks (2-1) with 11 points.
The Skyhawks led through much of the first half, but never by more than five points. Memphis contributed to the Tennessee-Martin lead with poor shooting and sloppy play. Memphis shot 33 percent from the field for most of the half, eventually finishing with 36.4 percent for the first 20 minutes.
The Tigers did score the half's final four points to take a 29-28 lead into the dressing room.
After the break, Memphis came out and ran away from the Skyhawks.
After Tennessee-Martin scored the first point of the half to tie it at 29-29, Memphis scored 13 of the game's next 15 points behind a pair of baskets each by Trask and Grice.
The Tigers continued to increase the lead, extending the run to 28-5 and the lead to 57-33 when Grice hit a 15-footer after a steal with just under 11 minutes to play.
Memphis eventually would hold a pair of 34-point leads in the final two minutes.
The Skyhawks scored only 21 points in the second half and hit 25.8 percent from the field.
