MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Shannon Forman scored 18 points to lead five Memphis players in double figures Monday night as the Tigers defeated Alabama A&M 97-66.
Forman connected on 6-of-10 from the field and 6-of-8 free throws. Also hitting double digits were Marcus Moody with 15 points, Kelly Wise with 14, Keiron Shine with 13 and Paris London with 12.
London led all rebounders with 11, while Wise grabbed 10 as the Tigers outboarded A&M 46-34.
Terrance Vanlier led the Bulldogs (0-3) with 18 points, while Garik Nicholson added 10. Both shared team rebounding honors with 6 each.
Memphis (2-2) never trailed and wasn't threatened after a Vanlier 3-pointer from the left wing tied the game 9-9 with 14:41 left in the first half.
The Tigers finished the half with a 26-7 run in the final 8:46, including 14 straight points over a five-minute stretch.
The Tigers led 48-27 at the half.
In the second half, Alabama A&M came closer than 19, and Memphis led by at least 20 during the final 16:30.
Memphis would build the lead to 32 with 7:27 when Aaron Mulvagh connected on a 3-pointer for an 84-52 lead.
The Tigers eventually held a 34-point lead when Forman hit a layup with 3:11 remaining for a 95-61 edge.
A pressing Memphis defense caused 18 Bulldog turnovers and held Alabama A&M to a 34.8 shooting performance.
With plenty of inside scoring, Memphis shot 52.5 from the field, despite a 3-of-10 performance from 3-point range.
