Allen Robinson came to the Tiger baseball team under former head coach Bobby Kilpatrick. The big first baseman played for two seasons, 1977 and 1978, and helped lead the ‘78 Tigers to a 40-9 record, the Metro Conference Championship and the finals of the NCAA South Regional at Auburn. During the 1977 season, Robinson led the team in hitting with a .373 batting average. He also led his team in runs batted in with 44 and in doubles with 17. The Tigers completed the season with a 34-14 record. As a senior, Robinson batted .397 with 55 RBIs, 10 home runs and 10 doubles. The Tigers 40 wins that season marked the first time in school history that a baseball team had posted 40 wins in a season. In two seasons he compiled batting averages of .373 and .397 and had 99 runs batted in and 27 doubles. Robinson served as a city councilman in Knoxville, Tennessee.
