Victoria Simpson, MS, LAT, ATC, SMTC, joined Memphis Athletics in Jan. 2022 after spending May 2021-Jan. 2022 as a seasonal intern with the New York Jets in the National Football League.
As an athletic training fellow at Memphis, Simpson provides evaluations, first aid and emergency treatment of an injury when it occurs and practices inter-professional healthcare by being a liaison between patients, physicians, and other athletic trainers. She communicates with coaching staffs about the physical status of players with regard to functional capacity to practice or play and develops customized treatment plans and rehabilitation programs.
With the Jets, Simpson gained experience with field setup and breakdown for practice and game days, taping duties and stretching. She also helped with rehabilitation protocols, provided support during practice and packed and prepared trunks for away games.
Simspon graduated from the College of Charleston in May 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, and she earned her master's degree in Athletic Training from South Carolina in May 2021. Simpson's passion include health care for BIPOC communities, and she was the first author in two published articles pertaining to the need for EKG testing in the Black community. Simpson spent 11 years overseas in England and Germany and has been to over 30 countries.
