Tommy Winston joined the Memphis Athletic Department in September 2023 as a Learning Specialist for Athletic Academic Services. His responsibilities include conducting individual academic assistance appointments and assessments with student athletes who are academically at-risk, scheduling academic mentoring sessions for student-athletes with learning disabilities, reviewing and interpreting reports for student athletes with learning disabilities and assisting with training and oversight of academic mentors and tutors.

Winston is also a member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and is an assistant football coach at Northpoint Christian School.

A native of Natchez, Miss., Winston holds a bachelor's degree in english from Tougaloo College. He also holds master's degrees in rehabilitation counseling and sport commerce from Jackson State University and the University of Memphis, respectively.

Winston and his wife, Pavielle, have two sons, Ayden and Dylan.
