Steven Spehar

Steven Spehar joined the Memphis Athletics Department in September of 2024. He currently serves as the primary contact for the Memphis men's soccer and softball programs along with the GoTigersGo.com website, while also serving as an oversight for Memphis volleyball and tertiary contact for Memphis football. He also previously spent time as the primary contact for Memphis baseball.Â
During the 2024-25 athletic season, he served as the contact for the softball program, seeing an uptick in interactions on all platforms as the program recorded its highest single-season win total since 2019 and recording its highest conference win total and tournament win since 2018. Additionally, Spehar helped promote the men's soccer program as it earned its first American Conference regular season championship, the first conference championship for the team since 2004. In that season, he helped promote multiple American Conference award winners (Lleyton Imparato, Midfielder of the Year; Jackson Kim, Defender of the Year; Filip Sabatti, Goalkeeper of the Year; Coaching Staff of the Year), as well as six all-conference selections. He served as the media relations coordinator during the 2024 American Conference Men's Soccer Championships as Memphis was the host site for the semifinal and final matches.Â
Spehar spent two years at Virginia Tech as both a student worker and a communications assistant in its creative communications department. He served as a primary contact for volleyball and men's tennis, while also being a secondary contact for wrestling and women's lacrosse. He worked extensively with all Hokie sports, assisting with social media, statistics and game operations. Additionally, Spehar served as a room coordinator at Cassell Coliseum when Virginia Tech women's basketball hosted the First Four and first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament in 2024.Â
While at Virginia Tech, Spehar also had the opportunity to work in official and talent stats for various ACC and ESPN broadcasts for men's and women's basketball, as well as baseball. He also worked as a productions assistant for ACC and ESPN broadcasts of Virginia Tech football. While working with Virginia Tech Athletics, Spehar also worked as a data scout for Sports Info Solutions, collecting raw data from select Virginia Tech football games.Â
The Carmichaels, Pennsylvania native earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Media and Analytics with a minor in event and experience management from Virginia Tech in 2023.
