Robbie Kleinmuntz arrived at Memphis in Aug. 2026 after spending three seasons at Pacific as Senior Associate AD for Strategic Communications from 2023-26. He served on the athletics senior staff and was responsible for all aspects of marketing, communications, graphic design, creative content, broadcasting, social media and licensing.
At Pacific, Kleinmuntz supervised 10 full-time employees including the integrated marketing and communications staff, the band and spirit teams, and was the sport administrator for men’s tennis. He was the communications contact for the department’s flagship programs of men’s basketball and a nationally ranked men’s water polo program that won a pair of championships in the West Coast Conference.
Kleinmuntz arrived at Pacific after serving as Associate AD for Communications at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. He publicized a department that won 20 conference championships and made 12 NCAA Tournament appearances from 2020-23. Kleinmuntz orchestrated March Madness media campaigns for a men’s basketball program that made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to A&M-Corpus Christi, Kleinmuntz worked as Assistant AD for Sports Information at Alcorn State from 2016-20. He rebuilt a sports information department from scratch and was honored as the 2018-19 HBCU Sports Information Director of the Year by Black College Nines. Kleinmuntz publicized a highly successful Braves football program that won back-to-back SWAC Championships and played in the Celebration Bowl in consecutive years in nationally televised games on ABC.
From 2013-16, Kleinmuntz served as Assistant Director of Media Relations at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. He was the primary contact for a men's basketball program that shot up to the top of the Sun Belt Conference standings after back-to-back 20-win seasons and a pair of postseason appearances.
Before ULM, Kleinmuntz worked as a communications assistant at the Sun Belt Conference office, and a sports information graduate assistant at Northwestern State. He experienced serving as the primary contact for soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, softball, track & field, tennis and swimming & diving during those stints.
As an undergrad, Kleinmuntz worked as an athletics media relations student intern at his alma mater the University of Pittsburgh. He worked in the Pitt Media Relations office when the men's basketball team was ranked No. 1 in the nation on two separate occasions.
Kleinmuntz earned his bachelor's degree as a double major in journalism and history from Pitt in 2010, and his master's degree in sports administration from Northwestern State in 2012. He lettered in tennis at Highland Park High School (Illinois).
