Kayla Bryant
- Title:
- Volunteer Assistant
Kayla Bryant joined the University of Memphis coaching staff in August of 2020, serving as the team's volunteer assistant.
Bryant comes to the Bluff City from Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota where she previously served as the Lancer’s graduate assistant. Prior to graduating in May 2020 with a masters of education in leadership and coaching, Bryant assisted in guiding Mount Marty to its best record in program history in 2019. Additional records broken in 2019 by the Lancers were batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, RBI, hits, home runs, stolen bases, runs, doubles, triples and fielding percentage.
Mount Marty also led the Great Plains Athletic Conference in RBI (242), runs scored (275) and stolen bases (103) in 2019. Much like Memphis, Mount Marty’s 2020 season was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Lancers were only able to compete in 16 contests.
Since 2018, Bryant assisted in the development of six NAIA All-Conference athletes and an NAIA All-American.
Bryant graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Cincinnati Christian University after earning her associate’s degree from Southwest Tennessee Community College. The Martin, Tennessee native competed for two years at Southwest and finished with a .384 batting average, 10 home runs, 66 hits and 48 RBI as a sophomore. She was a two-year all-conference and all-academic selection for NJCAA Region 7 at Southwest.
At Cincinnati Christian, she was a two-year starter at first base with a .979 overall fielding percentage and 437 putouts. As a senior, she helped lead her team to a NCCAA Midwest Region championship and a berth to the NCCAA World Series for the first time in program history.
