Julie Ellena

Julie Ellena joined the athletic training staff in October of 2015. Ellena began work with the softball program in 2018.

Ellena comes to the University of Memphis from Arkansas State, where she served on the Red Wolves athletic training staff from 2012-15. During her time in Jonesboro, Ark., Ellena provided athletic training services for the women’s basketball, women’s tennis and women’s bowling programs.

Prior to her post at Arkansas State, Ellena spent four years at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2008-2012. While working for the Islanders athletics department, she was responsible for the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs.

Before her time at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Ellena was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS), where she worked with women’s basketball and men’s and women’s track and field programs.

Ellena earned her Bachelors of Science degree in athletic training from Oklahoma State University in 2006. While at UCCS, she received her Masters of Science in Sports Medicine in 2008. She is a National Athletic Trainers Association StarTRACKS scholar and has earned certification in many areas including integrative dry needling (CIDN), precision nutrition (Pn1), personalized blood flow restriction (BFR) and Kinseo Tape (CKTP). Â

She is a native of Lawrence, Kan. and lives in Memphis with her dog, Hallie Jack.
