Joey Stark joined the Memphis Athletic Department in August 2025 as an Athletic Performance Fellow for olympic sports with primary responsibilities including the track and field and cross country teams.Â
Prior to joining Memphis, Stark worked at Wichita State University as a graduate assistant coach in sports performance. He spent two years working with the track and field, cross country and cheerleading programs.Â
Before working with Wichita State, Stark served as an intern in the football strength and conditioning program at Florida Atlantic University. In his time in Florida, he transitioned from the FAU Athletic Department to a role at Costa Performance, a private facility in south Florida working primarily with tennis and beach volleyball athletes.Â
He is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
Stark holds a Master's of Education in Learning and Instructional Design from Wichita State, earning the degree in 2025. He also earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a minor in psychology from Avila University in 2020.Â
