Mike Jenkins joined the Tigers strength and conditioning staff in July of 2008. He is responsible for the strength and conditioning training of the Tigers women’s basketball team.
Jenkins is no stranger to the Bluff City, having spent three years as an athletic trainer/strength coach at D1SportsTraining in Cordova. During his stint there, he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility, facilitating the D1 training programs and techniques, managing the facility’s personnel and directing special events and marketing.
A 1990 Texas A&M graduate, Jenkins worked as a graduate assistant and then a restricted earning assistant in the Aggies strength and conditioning department from 1990-94. He then served as the head strength coach at Weber State University from 1994-98, where he implemented the speed and strength programs for the Wildcats 13 sports programs.
Jenkins left Weber State in 1998, joining the strength and conditioning staff at Marshall University from 1998-2005. While with the Thundering Herd, Jenkins served as the head strength and conditioning coach, working with volleyball, track and field and baseball.
He is certified with the CSCC, and has level one certification with the United States Weight Lifting Foundation.
A native of Bryan, Texas, Jenkins received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Texas A&M in 1990. He also earned his master’s degree in kinesiology from Texas A&M in 1992.
He has two children, Jordyn and Brandon.
