Dawn Robinson is in her third year with the Memphis track and field program as the director of operations in 2019-20. She is the first person to hold this position in the program’s history.
Robinson’s responsibilities include coordinating team travel and accommodations, assisting with the inventory of equipment and athletic apparel, helping organize the annual home meet – Memphis Invitational – and serving as the program’s office manager.
Robinson was a member of the staff that led the Tigers to another outstanding season in 2018-19. Memphis had 20 athletes compete in the NCAA postseason (indoor/outdoor combined), and of those, half earned All-America honors. The Tigers sent two representatives to the NCAA Indoor Championships for the first time since 2014, and 19 qualified for the NCAA East Preliminaries (outdoor). At the conference championships (indoor/outdoor combined), the Tigers won five individual titles and had 35 athletes bring home all-conference accolades.
Memphis also performed well in the classroom in 2018-19. The Tigers had 12 athletes earn U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team distinction, and 45 were named the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
In her first season on staff in 2017-18, Robinson was a part of a record-setting campaign. The Tigers sent school-record contingents to the NCAA East Preliminaries (23 qualifiers) and NCAA Outdoor Championships (9 qualifiers). Memphis set 15 school marks in the indoor and outdoor seasons combined – a school record. In addition, the Tigers placed a school-record 17 student-athletes on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
The Tigers men’s squad posted runner-up finishes at the American Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor championships. The men’s team also placed 20that the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships, its best performance in program history.
Robinson and her husband, Kevin, have three children: Sebastian, Tristan and Matthias. Kevin is in his 14thyear as the track and field/cross country program’s head coach. They reside in Hernando, Miss.
