Shelby Farms - https://www.shelbyfarmspark.org
The park, located in East Memphis, offers a number of advantages for Memphis cross country. Shelby Farms has a designated cross country course to hold both gen runs and intervals on. The park has miles and miles of trails and also is a part of the Shelby Farms Greenline, which is an approximately 12-mile paved trail that runs from the Memphis suburb of Cordova to Midtown near the University of Memphis campus. Shelby Farms hosts the annual Rhodes College Invitational every September and was the site of the 2019 American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships (Nov. 1, 2019).
Overton Park - https://overtonpark.org
Overton Park is located in Midtown Memphis and is situated only four miles from the University of Memphis campus. The park has a 2000-meter trail of crushed stone which great for doing intervals on, and also has a two-mile loop which is blocked from traffic. Overton Park offers a number of large green areas with some gentle sloping hills where we can also do intervals. The park is adjacent to a large residential area with low traffic volume.
Audubon Park - https://greatruns.com/memphis-audubon-park/
Audubon Park, located mere steps across Park Avenue from the Billy J. Murphy Soccer/Track and Field Complex, gives the program an “extension” of its on-campus facility because of its close proximity. Tigers distance runners can begin their training on the Murphy Complex track and quickly move to Audubon Park, one of the City of Memphis’ public golf courses. The UofM distance squad has loops from one to four miles in the area that combines a mixture of grass, gentle rolling hills and some asphalt.

The Tigers’ home since the early 1970s, the complex went through renovations in 2013 that gave the facility a nine-lane track featuring Beynon surfacing, one of the premiere surfaces in track and field. Lights were added to the Murphy Soccer/Track and Field Complex prior to 2019, giving the program the ability to compete and train well into the evenings.
