Discounted Tickets - Faculty/staff
The Internal Revenue Code (Section 1.61-21[5]) provides that discounts to employees that exceed 20% for goods and/or services are taxable as compensation to employees and must be reported for tax purposes. The Internal Revenue Service is applying the 20% discount rule to the sale of tickets to athletic events. Faculty and staff receive a discount of 50% off the regular price of season tickets; therefore, as required by law, 30% of the regular price will be reported on the employee’s W-2 form as taxable income.

Frequently Asked Questions |
Why are ticket prices going up?
Before the 2017 season, IMG/Learfield Ticketing Solutions completed an extensive ticketing study and discovered that Memphis had the lowest ticket prices in the entire American Athletic Conference. In order to continue to be competitive and compete for championships, Memphis announced it would attempt to approach the median price in the conference over a two-year period. The median price in the conference is the sixth or seventh-ranked school in each price type. These price increases are based on 2016 prices.
Â
How do Memphis prices compare to the other schools in the AAC?
In each of the three comparable seating areas, Memphis will now be at the median price or slightly below the median price point (see price charts below).
Â
What is the 901 Club?
All members of the Tiger Scholarship Fund (TSF) at the TSF Associate level ($100) or more are members of the 901 Club. Benefits of the 901 Club include the 901 Club card, season ticket discount on upper sideline seats, invitations to special events, discounted entrance to the TSF Tailgate Experience in the Pipkin Building and many more.
Â
Do I have to join TSF to purchase football season tickets?
No. There are a number of seating options that do not require a TSF donation. However, many perks are offered exclusively to TSF members.
Â
What does my TSF contribution support?
Your contribution directly impacts the lives of our nearly 400 student-athletes, helping provide funds for student-athlete scholarships. Last year, the athletics department paid the University over $8 million to cover scholarship costs.
Â
Do I need to be a season ticket holder to purchase a season parking pass?
Yes. This is new for the 2018 season.
Â
How many season parking passes can I buy?
You may purchase a maximum of four (4) season parking passes per account. This is also new for the 2018 season. This change has been made to better accommodate our growing season ticket holder base.
With a $100 TSF contribution, how many discounted upper sideline tickets can I purchase?
This $100 contribution covers a discount for up to six seats. For every seat above the six, an additional $25 donation to TSF is required to receive the discount.
Â
Is this a reseating? If I currently have seats, do I still get those for the 2018 season?
This is NOT a re-seating and as long as you renew your season tickets by the season ticket deadline of June 1, you can retain the exact same seats as last season.
When do I have to pay for my seats and my donation?
All donations must be paid for by May 15 and all seats must be paid by the season ticket deadline of June 1. Seats that have not been renewed by the deadline will be made available for sale.
Â
I would like to sit in the premium chair back section. How do I upgrade my current seat location to the chair backs?
To make any change to your current seating location, please call 901-678-2331 and speak to a friendly ticket representative that will be more than happy to walk you through the options to best meet your needs.
Â
I have never been a member of the Tiger Scholarship Fund. Do I receive donor benefits with my per seat donation?
Absolutely. Please click here to see the complete benefits chart.
Â
What types of payments are accepted?
Cash, checks, credit cards, and monthly payments are accepted.
