Women's Basketball Tigers in the Pros
Memphis has had two players drafted in to the WNBA and has had a number of players play overseas following the completion of their Tiger careers. LaTonya Johnson was the program's first-ever WNBA draftee (1998), as she was drafted by the Utah Starzz. The following year, Tamika Whitmore joined her former teammate in the WNBA after she was drafted by the New York Liberty (1999). Johnson spent seven years in the WNBA and Whitmore played 11 seasons in the WNBA, earning WNBA All-Star honors in 2006 while a member of the Indiana Fever.Â
