Baseball opened FedExPark with a series split over #38 Middle Tennessee, the weather was great for the first two games and the Tiger fans responded with two good crowds. I've heard nothing but good things from everyone who was able to go. I went out Sunday to watch, but apparently brought rain and lightning with me, the game was called in the fourth. Thanks again to Andrew Vandeventer for filling in on the broadcast while I was out, he'll be back in a few weeks.
We couldn't have asked for better pitching performances from our pitchers today. Vanessa, Lauren, and Carly combined for 13 K's and delivered solid performances.
On the road today leaving for the big battle with Tulane tommorrow night in New Orleans. In my seven years as the Voice of Womens' Basketball, this will be the biggest regular season game I've called. The two first place teams face off with just four games left after.
Just checking in with a couple of quick news bits for you for this weekend. While we hope to see you in New Orleans for our game at Tulane, those of you who cannot make it to the game in person can still listen online for free to Jeff Brightwell's play-by-play call at www.gotigersgo.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/08stretch-audio.html.
Quote of the day came from Maddie (in her good ole' country Chickamauga accent) as we circled up to pray before the start of Game #1. "Dear God, please prepare Wichita for a buuuuutt whippin'!" It was priceless!
The time has finally come! We are ready to kick off the 2010 season with a few victories in Shreveport, La. All the hard work, long practices, sweat, pain and fatigue will all pay off as we start our journey to a Conference USA Championship.
