Smith Guides Memphis on Opening Day of the Golfweek Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Memphis women's golf team opened the first round of the Golfweek Challenge tied for fourth place at Caledonia Golf Club on Sunday.
Memphis finished the round at 2-under-par 282, which is the fourth-lowest team round score in program history.
Freshman Maddie Smith led the Tigers by carding a 4-under-par 67 to sit in a tie for third place. Her 67 ties the second-lowest individual round in program history, last accomplished by Claire Swathwood at the UNCG/AGPC Invite in 2025.
Nutsanun Khamphueng followed with an even-par 71 to end the day tied for 24th. Sirichaya Chanpen and Pavarisa Jongpipittaporn both carded a 1-over-par 72 to sit tied for 42nd, while Claire Todd wrapped up the Tigers' lineup with an 86.
Memphis returns to Caledonia Golf Club for round two on Monday starting at 7:25 a.m. CT.
