MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis women's tennis team won its first doubles point of the season in a 2-4 loss to Furman in Greenville, S.C., on Sunday.

Memphis lost the first doubles match of the day on court three when Rebecca Frant/Marina Lubsheva fell 3-6. Sofiia Mykhailets/Emma Dvorackova stuck back for the Tigers with a 6-4 victory on court one. Natalia Koppova/Clemence Thouard played in the deciding doubles match, claiming a clutch 8-6 tiebreaker to win the match and the doubles point for the Tigers.

Furman would even the score after court four was the first singles match to finish. Sofiia Mykhailets won her third match of the season at line one by a decisive 6-2, 6-2 scoreline, to put the Tigers up 2-1. Natalia Koppova and Emma Dvorackova lost close matches on courts two and three, giving Furman back the lead. Italian Rebecca Frant and Russian Marina Lubsheva both played three set matches on courts five and six. Lubsheva fell in her third set 1-6, clinching the match for the Paladins.

Memphis drops to 0-7 and will be back in action Feb. 20 at Ole Miss. First serve is set for 5 p.m. in Oxford, Mississippi.
