IRVING, Texas – Memphis forwards Ashley Henderson and Mihiro Furuya earned American Conference honors on Monday afternoon, with Henderson taking home Offensive Player of the Week and Furuya claiming Freshman of the Week.
The awards come on the back of Memphis' dominant 5-0 victory at East Carolina, which secured them the regular season conference title and the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Henderson scored in each half on Sunday, claiming her first brace of the season and fourth in her career. It's the second weekly honor that the Memphis native has received amid her push for a second straight All-Conference season. Her 18 points (seven goals, four assists) rank fourth in the conference.
Furuya scored the fifth and final goal in Greenville, the first of her college career. The September 29th Freshman of the Week has four assists on the year with three coming in conference play.
Henderson, Furuya and the rest of the top-seeded Tigers will be back in action this Thursday, October 23 at UTSA before returning home for the regular season finale against Temple on Sunday, October 26, at 12:00 p.m. against Temple.
