Four Tigers Earn Weekly Honors
Sep 30, 2024 | Women's Soccer
IRVING, Texas – The No. 17 Memphis women's soccer team filled up the AAC's weekly awards on Monday afternoon, as Izzy Monck, Kaylie Bierman, Anna Hauer and Alex Mackay all received honors.
Monck, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, won her first Defensive Player of the Week award for her role in Memphis' two clean-sheet victories over UTSA and USF last week. She played all 180 minutes and was faultless in defense; the two opponents only totaled nine shots in the two games.
Bierman brought home her second Goalkeeper of the Week honor of the season and the third of her career. The 2023 AAC Goalkeeper of the Year made five saves in 180 minutes in goal, and her goals-against average (0.47) is the 17th-lowest in the country.
Hauer and Mackay both received honorable mentions for their game-winners against South Florida and UTSA, respectively. It marks Hauer's second recognition of the season (Offensive Player of the Week, Sept. 2) and the first for the freshman Mackay.
The Tigers (7-1-1, 2-0-1 AAC) will be back in action this Thursday, Oct. 3, when they host Charlotte at 7 p.m. at Track and Soccer Stadium.
