Moeller Makes Program History as She Advances to ITA All-American Championships Round of 64 Main Draw

CARY, N.C. – University of Memphis women's tennis athlete Leonie Moeller continues to power through the ITA All-American Championships, winning her last five matches to advance to the round of 64 in the Main Draw stage.
"Leonie has continued to improve with every match this tournament," assistant women's tennis coach Ryan Haymond said. "To be one of only five competitors out of 128 who started in the pre-qualifying draw and advanced all the way to the main draw by beating five tough opponents is quite an accomplishment and will undoubtedly give her plenty of confidence. Leonie is also the only player from the AAC still remaining in the tournament. She's playing as well as Coach Hayden Perez and I have seen. We are very proud of her and she's doing a great job representing the Memphis Tigers!"
Moeller, a sophomore out of Nordhorn, Germany, made program history today, winning her fifth consecutive match to put her in the Main Draw stage of the tournament. Moeller started out as a prequalifying participant and has taken wins over Amelie Smejkalova (Clemson), McKenna Koenig (Washington), Savannah Dada-Mascoll (Appalachian State), Stephanie Yakoff (Harvard) and Talia Neilson-Gatenby (Florida) to play her way into the Main Draw round of 64.
