Tigers Fall to Evansville on Senior Night

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis men's soccer fell on Sunday to Evansville, 3-0, at the Billy J. Murphy Track & Soccer Complex on senior day.
Despite outshooting the Purple Aces 14-8, the Tigers never could find the back of the net.

KEY MOMENTS
- Evansville didn't waste any time in grabbing the first lead when Nacho Diaz-Caneja put a ball into the top right corner of the net, just 6:36 into the match.
- Memphis had its first real look in the 31st minute when Jose Maria Ojeda split three defenders and made run into the box, but a Purple Ace blocked his shot attempt from three yards out.
- Evansville added to its lead in the 62nd minute, this time off a free kick, when Nacho Diaz Barragan tapped a left-footer into the goal following a rebound from the keeper.
- Diaz Barragan finished off his brace with a 12-yard rocket from the center of the box to make it 3-0 Purple Aces.
- Memphis got off a flurry of shots late in the match. Five different Tigers combined for nine shots in the span of 10 minutes, but they couldn't find a hole. Two of those attempts were saves and three were blocked in the box.
NOTABLES
- The Tigers dominated corner kicks, 8-1, and put six of their 14 shots on target.
- Ryan Kuldanek led the team with four shot attempts, while Giorgos Kondylis got off three.
- Justin Cox finished the night with two saves in net.
- Memphis honored seven seniors in a pregame ceremony: Dominic Foster, Alejandro Padilla, Gabriel Christensen, Adam Yousfi, Abdou Samb, Jose Maria Ojeda and Cory Pitlik.
