MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis baseball right-handed pitcher David Warren was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Pitcher of the Week after a career night on the mound in the Tigers' 2-1 Thursday night win over Florida Atlantic.
The 6-foot-3 Dothan, Alabama, native picked up a win in his third-consecutive start and threw seven-plus innings for the third time this season, going a career-high 7.1 innings in the win. Warren also sat down a career-best 10 Owls on strikes, allowing just a single run on four hits and a pair of walks – with the first free pass not coming until the eighth inning.
Warren sat down the first six Owls he faced before a single to lead off the third inning broke up the streak. He hung another zero on the board in the third inning before surrendering his only run of the contest via a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning. The staff veteran proceeded to face just 14 batters while recording the next dozen outs from the fourth through seventh innings.
On the season, Warren is 4-1 (2-0 AAC) with a 4.54 ERA over 41.2 innings of work.
The Tigers host SEC foe Ole Miss (18-11) at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Action will be available to stream on ESPN+ as well as GoTigersGo.com via audio stream with Jeff Brightwell on the call.
