Oct 21, 2024 | Women's Soccer
IRVING, Texas – The No. 17 Memphis women's soccer team brought in two more AAC weekly honors on Monday afternoon, as Camber Hayes earned defensive player of the week and Ashley Henderson received honorable mention.
Coming off a 1-0 road victory on Sunday evening over Florida Atlantic, Hayes was near-flawless in defense, helping the Tigers to their seventh shutout of the season. A staple of the Memphis lineup this season, the graduate transfer ranks fourth on the team with 1,113 minutes.
Henderson scored the lone goal of the game to secure three points for the AAC-leading Tigers, her fifth goal of the season and first of conference play. The Memphis native ranks second on the team in total points (12) in her sophomore season.
It marks the first AAC award for Hayes, who made appearance on the All-MAC First and Second Team while at Miami (OH). Henderson also received an AAC honorable mention in August for her performance against Alabama A&M.
The Tigers will be back in action at home against Rice on Thursday at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
