Kitagawa Earns Fourth AAC Weekly Honor

IRVING, Texas — Memphis midfielder Ai Kitagawa earned her fourth Freshman of the Week award of the season, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Kitagawa scored the second goal of the Tigers' 4-0 victory at Temple on Oct. 10 and added an assist when her shot was pushed directly into the path of Maddie Eskin for a goal. She added an assist via corner kick in the first half of Sunday's match with East Carolina, which finished in a 1-1 draw.

The award marks the fourth of the year for the Japan native, passing Mya Jones for the most by a Memphis freshman. It is also the most awards won from any AAC player through nine weeks.

Kitagawa and the No. 16 Tigers will next play in Boca Raton, Florida, taking on Florida Atlantic at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
