MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Memphis Athletics Department is delighted to unveil its groundbreaking collaboration with Altius Sports Partners (ASP). This innovative partnership marks a significant stride as it introduces an Altius General Manager and Athlete Marketing Manager to oversee the operations of the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Athlete Services Department. The primary objective is to elevate the scope of existing and prospective commercial opportunities for Tiger student-athletes. This collaboration empowers Memphis student-athletes with an unrivaled level of support and avenues within the dynamic NIL landscape. Notably, Memphis joins Oklahoma as one of the pioneering institutions to adopt such a comprehensive approach.
Â
"The partnership between Memphis Athletics and Altius Sports is poised to reshape how we support our student-athletes," said University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Laird Veatch. "This collaboration marks a significant turning point, combining our strengths to elevate our student-athletes in unprecedented ways. Together, we're embarking on a journey to provide comprehensive support that propels our Tigers to reach new heights."
Â
The newly appointed General Manager will assume responsibility for overseeing all facets of the highly-successful NIL program at Memphis, called MaximUM. This includes education, training, monitoring, and adherence to regulations and guidelines and new strategic commercial initiatives. Working in close collaboration with the athletics department chief revenue officer, the GM will enrich the student-athlete experience by conceptualizing and coordinating various programs and resources while optimizing existing NIL entities and initiatives. Additionally, the GM will amplify awareness about NIL throughout the Memphis community, engaging business leaders and other external stakeholders. The role of the Athlete Marketing Manager will primarily involve oversight of education and advocacy while fostering connections between student-athletes and brands at local, state, and national levels.
Â
"Our collaboration with Memphis is a testament to our shared commitment to nurturing athlete potential along their journey and preparing them for the future," said Brittney Whiteside, Vice President of Collegiate Partnerships at Altius Sports. "We're excited about the opportunity to work together and identify dynamic individuals to lead the Athlete Services Department at Memphis."

Here are the Altius Sports job postings for the Memphis Athletics NIL General Manager and Athlete Marketing Manager.
Â
The ASP GM Program, initiated in July 2022, centralizes NIL support services across various athletics departments. Memphis stands as one of 13 schools, encompassing both Power Five and non-Power Five institutions, participating in this program and just the second to take the holistic approach to expand to Athlete Services. ASP personnel, situated on campus, provide tailored education and guidance on nationwide NIL concerns, thus ensuring optimal opportunities for student-athletes. ASP's dedication to student-athlete NIL advancement and their synergistic partnership with institutional counterparts underscore its contribution to the program. As the GM Program expands, ASP will persist in delivering advisory support and innovative direction to all participating educational institutions.
Â
The University of Memphis has been on the forefront of innovation in the NIL space, as it was one of the first 10 schools in the nation to invest in a dedicated Director of Name, Image and Likeness position to help its student-athletes and programs, and Memphis has on-campus partnerships with the University's Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, among others, to help provide its student-athletes top-of-the-line resources to get the maximum out of their NIL as Tigers. Memphis was also on the forefront of the NIL collective landscape, as the 901 Fund is an official sponsor of Memphis Athletics and works to connect Tiger student-athletes with local charities to amplify the work being done in the community.
