Eight Tigers Set to Compete at ITA All-American Championships

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A group of Memphis men's tennis players will battle their way through the draws at the ITA Men's All-American Championships this week. The three-round, elite invitational tournament will be held primarily on the campus of the University of Tulsa and run September 30-October 8. The Tigers has eight players selected to compete in the event.
The event will feature live streaming of matches via both Cracked Racquets and Track Tennis.
Representing Memphis will be seniors Pau Fanlo, Charlie Barry, Juan Zabala, Mika Berghaus, juniors Harry Rock, Conor Gannon, Pablo Alemany and sophomore Sam Reeve. Alemany is ranked 35th in the nation in singles by ITA.
The Tigers are led by first-year head coach Chris Doerr.
Beginning with 256 singles players, competition will kick off at Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in the opening two rounds of pre-qualifying singles on Saturday, followed by the third, qualifying and consolation rounds on Sunday. In singles, there will be one round of a first-match loser consolation draw.
In the opening round of 256, four Tigers will begin action at 8 a.m. with Rock taking on former Memphis teammate Sam Edgar from the University of San Francisco. Reeve will face San Diego State's Alexander Mandma, while Zabala will take on Jonathan Irwanto of California and Gannon will face Rithvik Krishna of California Irvine.
At 11 a.m., Fanlo will match up with Drake's Reid Jarvis and Barry will face Baylor's Luc Koening at 2:30 p.m.

Into the next draw, split between LaFortune Park and the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the Tulsa campus, singles and doubles pairs will take on the qualifying opening rounds on Monday, Oct. 2, with the final qualifying rounds and a singles consolation set for Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Alemany will begin his doubles action in the main draw, while Gannon, Rock and Berghaus will all be in the qualifying round.
The top-64 will advance in singles and top-32 in doubles, starting on Wednesday, Oct. 4 and cutting down the field to the singles and doubles championships on Sunday, Oct. 8 at UT's Case Tennis Center.
