MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger women's soccer team opened their American Athletic Conference portion of the schedule tonight and would come away with the 2-0 win over North Texas.

After tonight's game, Memphis moves to 6-1 overall and 1-0 in AAC play.

KEY MOMENTS

The Memphis offense came out hot, getting shots on-goal from Mya Jones, Anna Hauer, Anne-Valerie Seto and Ashley Henderson all in the first half.
While the North Texas defense was able to hold the Tigers scoreless in the opening 45, Memphis would hold the Mean Green to just five shots in the first half. Memphis and UNT took a 0-0 score into halftime.
The duo of Sarah Hagg and Saorla Miller would put Memphis on the board; in the 72' Hagg would send a ball up into the offensive third where Miller beat out the UNT backline and go one-on-one with their goalkeeper. Miller would convert to make it a 1-0 Tiger lead.
Just six minutes later, Hauer would give Memphis an insurance goal after she found the back of the net off a rebounded shot deep in the box.
The Memphis defense would hold steady in the final minutes of the match to claim the 2-0 victory and their first AAC win of the season.

NOTABLES

Claire Wyville made her first start of the season going the full 90 minutes while making three saves.
Memphis outshot North Texas 20-12 with 10 of their shots being on-goal.
The Tigers kept their undefeated streak at the Track & Soccer Complex alive moving to 11 consecutive matches dating back to Oct. 28, 2021.
