Mulrooney Signs Pitlik for Upcoming Season
May 19, 2023 | Men's Soccer
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Head Memphis men's soccer coach Richard Mulrooney has added another name to the 2023 roster in Cory Pitlik.
Pitlik, a 6-2 midfielder/defender from Frankfort, Ill., comes to Memphis after spending three seasons at Drake University. While with the Bulldogs, Pitlik appeared in 28 games where he recorded one goal and two assists in just over 1,400 minutes played.
"We believe Cory is a player who can come in and fill a role on the backline in a couple different spots," said Mulrooney. "His collegiate experience is very beneficial and has a calming composure on the ball and the ability to play into attacking players is something we look forward to utilizing."
Last season, Pitlik helped the Bulldogs to a 7-4-4 overall record and a 5-2-1 spot in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Pitlik prepped at Lincoln-Way East High School where he was an All-State performer in his junior and senior seasons with a combined 30 goals and 19 assists. Pitlik would help lead his team claim a Regional Championship in his rookie season. Pitlik would also lead his club team, Eclipse Select SC to a US Club Soccer National Championship.
