May 01, 2023 | Men's Tennis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tiger men's tennis team earned its ninth NCAA Tournament trip in the last 11 seasons and will open play Saturday at 9 a.m. against Wake Forest in Knoxville, Tennessee.
With a win against the Demon Deacons, Memphis would advance to play either host and No. 8 national seed Tennessee or Belmont Sunday at noon.
No. 35 Memphis (13-7) also played in Knoxville the last two NCAA Tournament's. In 2021, they defeated Georgia Tech in the first round before bowing out to Tennessee in the second round.
Last season, the Tigers fell in the opening round against No. 21 Duke.
"The guys are super excited to make another NCAA tournament," head coach Paul Goebel said. "They have battled so many obstacles and achieved great things this year, but we have a goal to win a championship.
"Wake Forest is a tough opponent and very well coached. We should be very familiar with Knoxville as it is now our third year in a row to play in that venue. Our guys should feel very comfortable and we can't wait to compete again. We will be ready for another great match Saturday."
Tickets for the NCAA Regional are available to the general public here. A full tournament central page can be accessed here.
Should Memphis advance from Knoxville, NCAA Tournament Super Regionals will be played May 12-13. The NCAA Tournament Finals are May 17-27 in Orlando, Florida.
