Tigers Place Fifth at AAC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – The University of Memphis men's golf team finished fifth overall with a score of 848 (+8) at the 2023 American Athletic Conference (AAC) Championship on Sunday at the Pelican Golf Club. No. 49-ranked Houston won the nine-team tournament with a total of 831 (-9).
"A disappointing end to the season," head coach Blake Smart said. "We just could not maintain our momentum from the second round and fell short of the goal."
KEY MOMENTS
• Junior Esteban Vazquez had a great final round for the Tigers to move up the leaderboard, carding a 67 (-3) on Sunday, ending the tournament tied for sixth place with a score of 209 (-1).
• Vazquez ended the season with seven top-20, four top-10 and one top-five finish.
• Sophomore Andrew Baucum tied for 17th place for Memphis with a three-day total of 215 (+5) thanks to rounds of 73-69-73.
• Senior James Morgan and sophomore Adam Coull tied for 22nd place overall with scores of 216 (+6).
• Junior Ryan van der Klis finished in 30th place with a total of 217 (+7).
