Tigers Tame UCF 4-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis Tigers men's tennis team stayed unbeaten against American Athletic Conference opponents with a 4-1 win over UCF Sunday afternoon at the MUS Tennis Complex in Memphis.
The Tigers (10-5) have now won two-straight matches and are 3-0 against league foes.
Memphis won the doubles point despite dropping the first battle on court one. Harry Rock and Conor Gannon battled back to even the score with a 6-4 win at No. 2 before Pablo Alemany and Oscar Cutting teamed up to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead behind a 6-4 decision on court three.
In singles action, Jeremy Taylor quickly doubled Memphis' advantage with a straight-set 6-2, 6-1 victory on court five. After UCF took a point at the second position, Rock emerged on court six with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win after dropping the first frame.
Gannon put the finishing touches on the Knights on court four with a hard-fought battle with Liam Branger that saw two sets go to tiebreaks. Gannon won 7-6(3), 6-7(6), 6-4.
The Tigers are back in action next weekend at MUS Tennis Complex with a pair of AAC matches. Wichita State visits at 1 p.m. Friday before SMU comes to town on Easter at 11 a.m.
