Dec 16, 2023 | General
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ken Moody, University of Memphis Director of Local Relations & Partnerships and a former Memphis men's basketball student-athlete, has added responsibilities with the Memphis Athletics external leadership team in a dual role to provide expertise on continuing to grow the Tigers' essential place in the Memphis community.
Â
Moody joined the University of Memphis in March 2023 after 20 years in Memphis City Government under multiple administrations. Moody's role at the University centers around cultivating local strategic partnerships throughout the City to advance the University's mission, which will now also include additional dual efforts with athletics to ensure a collaborative and synced representation as a University within the community.
Â
Moody will be involved in Memphis' external marketing, communications and fundraising efforts, and he will also interface with Memphis Athletics' Senior Staff alongside his current efforts on the University side.
Â
"Ken is an extremely well-respected and highly connected Memphian, and we are excited that he will be working more closely with our athletics administration in this dual role," University of Memphis Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Laird Veatch said. "Ken has been a friend and trusted advisor since I arrived in Memphis in 2019, and he truly cares so much about our University and our City. Having him as part of our athletics leadership team will make all of us better as we continue to strive to help our University ascend."
Â
Moody, a life-long Memphian, appeared in 66 games across two basketball seasons for the Tigers. His senior season of 1986-87 was the first season guided by legendary head coach Larry Finch, and the Tigers went 26-8 that season.
