No. 4 Tigers Fall to No. 1 SMU in AAC Championship Seminfinal Round

DALLAS – The University of Memphis men's soccer team battled weather conditions most of the night but were unable to stave off the attack from No. 2 SMU in a 3-0 defeat in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Championship Thursday night in Dallas.
The loss dropped Memphis to 10-5-2 on the season.

- The Tigers fired off three shots in the span of six minutes early in the first half, including a look from Hayden Anderson that was blocked in the 19'.
- SMU responded in the 25' with its first goal of the night when Jelldrik Dallman found the back of the net from just outside the top of the box between a pair of Tiger defenders.
- A flurry of shots from Memphis came in the final three minutes of the opening half with equalizing attempts from Elie Bokota, Dino Stavros and Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos all getting blocked by the Mustang defense.
- Dallman put Memphis in a 2-0 hole in the 52' with a strike inside the left post from 15 yards out.
- The Tigers looked to have gotten on the board in the 59' from a shot by Logan Longo, but SMU's AAC Goalkeeper of the Year Cole Johnson threw himself at the ball and somehow kept it from going over the line.
- SMU responded less than two minutes later with a header goal from Dallman to give himself a hat trick and to put the Mustangs in front 3-0.
- Hayden Anderson got the final look for Memphis in the 65', but Johnson came away with another stop.

- Memphis attempted 14 shots to SMU's 13, but the Mustangs managed to put eight on target compared to just two from the Tigers.
- SMU won the corner-kick battle, 13-4.
- Anderson and Bokota each led the way with three shots apiece.
